Beach Hearts Wall Art

Updated: May 26, 2020

Hi Everyone! Today I wanted to share one of my favorite projects lately.. I wanted to create wall decor for over our bed that pulled together all of the colors from our bedding. This bedding was a splurge a few years ago from Annie Selke and I still love it so much! The Water Color Dots duvet and pillow shams include all of the colors that I love for our master bedroom. You can still purchase this ensemble here:

I love the watery blue & green tones as well as the pops of blush pink.

For this project, I gathered some of the materials I had at home and purchased the rest online. I have an extensive collection of shells , sea glass and driftwood I have collected through the years from Long Beach Island NJ and Long Island NY. I knew I wanted to use them in this wall art.

The first heart I made was with the Pink Sea Urchin Shells. I love the pink color of these and love the way they play off the dots in the duvet cover. I ordered 100 shells on Amazon for $35.00. I painted the wood heart with pink acrylic paint then hot glued the shells to the wood.

Next I created the Sea Glass Heart. Again, I painted the wood heart in a light aqua color. For this heart I used some of the aqua sea glass I have found through the years. I made sure to feature some of the really special pieces I have found such as the sea glass marbles and perfume bottle top pieces.

The final heart I painted a creamy white and glued some of the precious sand dollars I collected from LBI. Now that they are all complete, it was time to hang them! Centered over the bed, together they create a one of a kind art collection!

The finished hearts in our master bedroom.

If you don't have a treasure trove of shells and glass in your garage like I do , you can purchase them online.

Here are some options:

I would love to see how this project inspires you, please share your art below. Thanks for stopping by! Happy Creating!
